Colors of Blue Shades of Black II was written to show another side of dealing with love, heartbreak, and unfamiliarity. Also, how it can be uneasy. It is composed of different poems, from different spectrums of life, and deals with both depression and anxiety while managing the everyday unfamiliar and familiar obstacles of life. The book shows the stigma surrounding mental illness and the escape one has and creates in the mind an illusion for another reader.
She says, “Blossoming from my eyes.” I gave you my smile. To you, I opened up my heart, for these words I spoke to you in disguise. There is truth in pain; there is pain in lies. I tore down my wall to give you the biggest surprise of them all. Different colors, different shades, all blended in one. I unfolded my life to you. From love, laughter, and unveiling touches of home that I’ve become and slowly outrun. Don’t read too deep. Don’t get lost in my soul. Just touching the surface is never fun. Colors of Blue, Shades of Black II is about love from getting burned by standing too close to the sun.

Young, vibrant, and intellectual Shannon Leeann Dill started writing poetry at a very young age. She wanted to turn her poetry into books and turn those books into novels. Her poetry is a unique composition of her outlook on life, love, and her experiences on paper and in script. She expresses a different and deeper type of intimacy when she unveils a lot of truths about and of herself and where she lives and comes from. In her writing, she describes it as, a different twist in the mindset. She grew up in a very rural place called “The Historical District”. She describes a different type of notation when dealing with life and where she ended up from her misfortunes and satisfactions. She unveils a surface level of her soul.
